If so, we’d like to hear from you. We are currently looking for a Junior Costing Officer for our manufacturing client in the Stoke on Trent area.
This is a temporary to permanent role (38.75 hours per week). You will be working as part of small friendly team, who are hand to offer support and assistance.
We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to learn — a team player who enjoys working with data and has an eye for detail. Some finance or costing experience is great, but your drive to grow and develop is more important.
Job Purpose
The Junior Costing Officer will provide support to the Costing Officer and Finance Business Partner – Operations in ensuring the accurate and timely provision of cost information. This includes assisting with the maintenance of costing databases, helping to calculate product costs, and supporting the preparation of financial reports used to inform business decisions and stock valuation.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in producing product costings using the Company’s Costing Systems and other financial information, in line with Cost and Management Accounting principles.
· Support Production and Finance teams in maintaining the Manufacturing Costing System and associated data.
· Help prepare and reconcile stock valuation information in accordance with accounting standards.
· Provide support to senior colleagues with cost and margin analysis for new products and promotional activity.
· Assist in maintaining the database of sourced product purchases and help with the preparation of standard costs.
· Contribute to the weekly analysis of stock and production data for use in Company business indicators.
· Support the Finance team in analysing Perpetual Inventory information and follow up on any actions required.
· Assist with the preparation of journals and reports used in monthly management accounts.
· Provide ad-hoc analysis and administrative support to the Finance team as required.
Skills and Experience Required
· Some experience in a finance, costing, or data analysis role (work placement or entry-level position desirable).
· Basic understanding of costing and management accounting principles.
· Good analytical and numerical ability with a willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems would be advantageous but not essential.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Enthusiastic, proactive, and able to work well within a team environment.
